There are many individuals, corporations, foundations,
congregations, and other groups who regularly support the
mission of Interfaith Housing. Your generosity makes a
difference in the life of others. On behalf of those
whom you may never know or see, thank you! Each year hundreds of volunteers
donate thousands of hours in support of our mission. There are numerous ways for you to
help.
Home Construction and Rehab
Central to our mission is the construction or rehab of
homes which become available to our client families.
This work would not be possible without thousands of hours of
volunteer work each year. Some organizations work with
us several days each month, others only a few days per
year. While most of our volunteers are
"unskilled", we especially welcome any experienced
and/or licensed contractors in the following areas:

General Carpentry

Licensed/Certified Electricians
-
Licensed Plumbing/Heating Contractors
-
Professional Drywall Contractors
-
Experienced Carpet Installers
-
Experienced Appliance Repair Person
Furniture Distribution Center
Volunteers are needed to assist with our
Furniture Distribution including:
-
Warehouse Organizers - needed to help
maintain organization of the furniture warehouse and
report on number of clients served.

Drivers and Driver Helpers - drivers with
their own van or truck are needed to pick up furniture and
housewares from donors.
Office Help
Volunteers are needed in many areas of the
office including copying, preparing mailings, telephone
support, scheduling, and many more places. Do you have a
few hours a week to help out?
Committees
Do you have a few
extra hours each month to help out on one of our
committees? Perhaps your talents fit in with one of
them.
Oversee the successful selection,
acquisition, and development of all properties for the
organization. Ensure a timely response for maintenance
issues related to properties under management.
Maintain accountability for all levels of project
development and property management. Provide support
wherever needed to guide all property issues to a successful
conclusion.
Oversees the manpower needs of the
organization. Develop lists of potential personnel to
assist in accomplishing the mission of IHDC. Monitor
Board personnel needs and recruit where necessary to ensure
all key positions remain filled.
Assist in the development of
organizational goals and objectives. Evaluate all
committee, board, and personnel efforts that influence the
operation of the organization. Provide advice and
recommendatiions necessary to guide the Board in the
completion of goals. When requested, handle staff
personnel issues including the adherence to and evaluation
of, employee policies.
Oversees the successful implementation and
achievement of all fundraising efforts, including annual
campaigns, special events, foundation solicitations, and
activities. Assist in the development of goals and
objectives related to reaching or exceeding the annual
budget needs. Maintain accountability for all
fundraising campaigns and programs. Provide support
wherever necessary to be successful in meeting all
fundraising goals.
Provide advice for all finance efforts
which influence operations of the organization.
Provide direct support wherever necessary to successfully
and professionally manage the accounts of the organization,
establishing an maintaining bank accounts and bookkeeping
protocols. Assist in developing the annual budget and
in completing an annual audit.
Provides communications and marketing
support for all activities, programs, and functions of the
organization. Develop marketing campaigns and
materials, create image-positioning efforts, and maintain
media communications. Through strong contact with the
Executive Director, the Chairman of this committee acts as
the official spokesperson of the organization wherever
necessary.
Provides support to, communication and
strong relationships with all member organizations.
Ensure that member organization representatives are selected
and that liaison records are updated and maintained.
Pursue new member organizations, cultivating relationships
wherever necessary, and coordinate council of representative
meetings.
Oversee the successful selection,
implementation, and achievement of all client service
related projects including counseling, tenant relations, and
warehouse operations. Ensure that client needs are
continually brought to the forefront of the organization in
policy, programs, and marketing. Maintain
accountability for tenant relations and client concerns, and
provide support wherever necessary to guide all client
service issues to a successful conclusion.

Adopt-a-House Program
Several years ago, we added an Adopt-a-House program
where an organization "adopts" an entire home for
rehab. Members can work on their own schedule or
schedule group workdays. The following groups have
completed homes under this program:
