Volunteer

Our sincere appreciation goes out to everyone who supports our work.  There are many individuals, corporations, foundations, congregations, and other groups who regularly support the mission of Interfaith Housing.  Your generosity makes a difference in the life of others.  On behalf of those whom you may never know or see, thank you!

Each year hundreds of volunteers donate thousands of hours in support of our mission.  There are numerous ways for you to help.

Home Construction and RehabVolunteers Re-siding a Home

Central to our mission is the construction or rehab of homes which become available to our client families.  This work would not be possible without thousands of hours of volunteer work each year.  Some organizations work with us several days each month, others only a few days per year.  While most of our volunteers are "unskilled", we especially welcome any experienced and/or licensed contractors in the following areas:

  • General Carpentry

  • Licensed/Certified Electricians

  • Licensed Plumbing/Heating Contractors

  • Professional Drywall Contractors

  • Experienced Carpet Installers

  • Experienced Appliance Repair Person

Furniture Distribution Center

Volunteers are needed to assist with our Furniture Distribution including:

  • Warehouse Organizers - needed to help maintain organization of the furniture warehouse and report on number of clients served.

  • Drivers and Driver Helpers - drivers with their own van or truck are needed to pick up furniture and housewares from donors.

Office Help

Volunteers are needed in many areas of the office including copying, preparing mailings, telephone support, scheduling, and many more places.  Do you have a few hours a week to help out?

Adopt-a-House Program

Several years ago, we added an Adopt-a-House program where an organization "adopts" an entire home for rehab.  Members can work on their own schedule or schedule group workdays.  The following groups have completed homes under this program:

  • Yardley and Morrisville United Methodist Churches (Prospect Avenue, Morrisville)

  • Newtown Presbyterian Church (Pine Needle Road, Levittown)

  • North and Southampton Reformed Church (Tulip Road, Bensalem
